How is this list ranked?
By each business's Google rating, adjusted for how many reviews it has: every business starts from a neutral 4.0, and its real reviews pull the score up or down, so a rating from a handful of reviews counts for less than one backed by hundreds. That way a 4.9 from 10 reviews doesn't outrank a 4.7 from 400. Businesses need at least 10 Google reviews to be ranked.
Can a business pay to rank higher?
No. Claiming a listing (free) adds a logo, description and a verified-listing badge, but no points. Badges such as USDOT registration are shown for information and never change a score. The only way to move up is more and better customer reviews.
